(01/26/2019) - Many people in mid-Michigan were stocking up on groceries on Saturday. A big snow storm is expected to hit the area this week.
"Both days have been extremely busy, everybody getting ready for the impact of the snow storm," Larry Allen said. He is the store manager at VG's in Fenton.
He said even with the rush of customers, they don't expect to run out of food.
"We been through it many, many times before, it's always the staple items we prepare for the most."
Allen mentioned that people were buying basic food needs.
"We see people buy vegetables, produce, water supplies, dairy supplies, hot foods."
One mid-Michigan mom had a cart full of goodies, with a potential snow day in mind.
"Just stock up on our water, juices and snacks for the kids if they don't go to school for a few days," Malisa Clendenin said.
Clendenin said heavy snow doesn't worry her.
"I've been in Michigan all my life, so I'm pretty use to it."
Clendenin said the goal is to get all of her errands done before the storm hits. Therefore, she won't have to worry about venturing out into the cold.
"Hopefully not, my husband, yes, but not me," she said.
Allen says no matter how cold or the amount of snow the storm brings this week, they are ready to serve.
